: The study was adapted to the recommendations for biomedical research of the Declaration of Helsinki, Resolution No. 8430 of 1993 of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia and respecting the ethical principles raised by some Indigenous peoples (National Indigenous Organization of Colombia 2020). Approval was obtained from the community through its governor and the Ethics Committee of the Center for Advanced Studies in Childhood and Youth through Act 001 of February 2023. This Committee is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Manizales, which evaluates research processes of childhood and youth and social sciences in general. Confidentiality was maintained by replacing names with letters. Aspects were taken into account to carry out culturally safe research, including that colonization, extractivism, and discriminatory policies have created a context of continuous trauma and high rates of mental health problems in Indigenous peoples.
