: As calls for representation and equity in academia and beyond have become ever more strident, we acknowledge the complexities of writing this paper as two upper-caste Hindu women about a religious minority group in India. However, we hope that by mindfully including the excellent scholarship of Muslim scholars, we have been able to amplify the voices of those who may not always have the platform to speak for themselves. We understand the sticky questions of representation still remain, but our intent is to present empirical evidence that can inform public policy geared towards equity for all and especially for those who have been most marginalized.
