: Ethical approval was received by Monash University and the Department of Education and Training (Project number 2021_004471). The project was introduced to the centre director, who suggested undertaking the study in the infant (0–18 months) room. The recruitment of participants was conducted by the centre director, and the educator distributed consent forms to the families. The families agreed to allow their child to be observed and undergo video observations, and for the data to be de-identified for publication. The educator agreed to undertake two audio-recorded reflective conversations around two focus infant-toddlers. The centre director agreed to undertake audio-recorded conversations; this allowed us to reflect together about the practices in the infant-toddler group.
