: <i>Animal ethics</i>: Ethical approval: Ethical approval was gotten from the University of Medical Sciences Animal research ethics committee with the index number (UNIMED-AREC/Apv/2023/039). Ethical guidelines: In accordance with the basel declaration, we ensured that animal right was prioritized; unnecessary pains were not inflicted on the animals and a reasonably minimal numbers of animals were used for this research endeavor. Source of animals: The mice used for the research were purchased from UNIMED commercial breeding colony, Ondo, Ondo state, Nigeria. And the purpose for buying the animals was stated and an informed consent was given. <i>Plant ethics</i>: Plant guidelines: Fresh Colocasia esculenta leaves were harvested from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Nigeria farm with permission from the botanical garden unit and the leaf sample was identified and authenticated with the voucher specimen Number LHO840 by Prof. A.T.J, Ogunkunle (Angiosperm taxonomist) at the University’s department of Botany herbarium. Permission to harvest the leaves was obtained from the department of botany of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria; and the leaves were subsequently harvested from the institution’s botanical garden.
