: My published article on “Children in Street Situations in South Africa: Conceptualizing Vulnerability” focuses more on the conceptualisation of children in street situations ie who defines them and how conceptualisation helps to understand who they are. It describes how vulnerability shapes social interventions for the children. However the paper I submitted focuses on how the South African socio-legal and policy environment shapes actual interventions for children in street situations. This paper discusses the social protection measures in place for the children and provides an analysis of the social policies for children in need of care and protection. These papers discuss and analyze different things even though the context of South Africa is the same. The paper I submitted to your journal contributes to how laws, policies are instrumental in social welfare and protection of children. This helps in shaping the discourse on social protection through analyzing policies and legislation.
