: The use of <i>Drosophila melanogaster</i> requires no formal ethical approval; however, all experiments were performed in the most conducive environment and humane form as possible. This study used discarded orange peels regarded as wastes and the method of sourcing and gathering complied with local and national guidelines. The samples were authenticated at CERAD, FUTA before use.
