: The protocol was approved by Haramaya University, the College of Health and Medical Sciences, Institutional Health Research Ethics Review Committee (IHRERC/205/2024) in accordance with the declaration of Helisinki. A permission letter obtained from the School of Graduate Studies was submitted to the Chiro Town health office for administrative purposes. Each study participant was adequately informed about the purpose, methods, and anticipated benefits of the study by their data collectors. Additionally, the names of the mothers and children were not included in the questionnaire, and the collected data are kept confidential and will not be used for other purposes. Voluntary written informed consent was obtained from each mother participating in the study to protect personal anonymity and ensure confidentiality.
