: Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Ethics and Research Committee of the Department of Public Health, University of Calabar (Reference: UC/CM/PUH/ETH/2230). Prior to data collection, pre-survey visits were conducted in the selected study areas. Informed consent was secured from parents or guardians for the participation of their adolescent children, while adolescents aged 18 to 19 years provided individual consent. Participation in the study was entirely voluntary, with the option to withdraw at any stage without any consequences. All responses and data collected through the questionnaires were treated with strict confidentiality to prevent unauthorized access. The study procedures adhered to the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki.
