: We received an ethically approved statement on a research project entitled “Relationship between domestic animals, environmental and human behavioral factors, and under-five diarrhea in the Sidama region, Ethiopia: a matched case-control study” from the Jimma University Institute of Health (Institutional Review Board) on June 16/2022, with Ref. No. IHRPG/1095/22. Furthermore, we received formal letters from the Sidama Regional Public Health Institute and the selected district health offices. At the HCFs where actual data were collected, we also obtained informed consent from the respective bodies and oral consent from the caretakers. The privacy and confidentiality of the caretakers, including the children, were well maintained. Additionally, caretakers’ freedom to leave the interview at any moment was respected.
