: Indepth interviews via BdREN Zoom platform were conducted with 3 teachers which were recorded. Brief phone conversations were held with Professor Niaz Zaman, Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, Professor Fakrul Alam, Professor Firdous Azim, and Professor Tahmina Ahmed and a couple of former graduates. These were not recorded, but notes were kept by the author. Permission to publish the faculty group photograph was obtained from all the teachers individually, including the framed photograph of the first female alumna from her son, Bijoy Nag, living in India. Only few specific parts of a previously conducted interview with one participant (Professor Niaz Zaman) has been used in this paper. This in-depth interview was conducted via BdREN Zoom platform and recorded via Zoom by Nevin Farida (1st author), Qumrul Hasan Chowdhury, Begum Shahnaz Sinha, Ahmed Bashir and Bijoy Lal Basu on November 19, 2020 for a joint paper titled, ‘History of the Department of English (1921–2021): An Academic Overview’ (DOI: ). All five co-authors have no reservations in anyone using the interviews for academic purposes. The Zoom interviews are available with the author. An Ethics approval statement, dated November 3, 2024, was issued by the Dean (Acting) of the Faculty of Arts, University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan.
