: This project was determined to be exempt from formal review by the Mayo Clinic Institutional Review Board (IRB) as it met the criteria for quality improvement activities in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR 46.102. Informed consent was obtained and confidentiality was stressed throughout the interviews. All participants consented to the interviews verbally, which was preferable to written consent due to Guinea’s low literacy rates. Data were anonymized for analysis and pseudonyms are used in this paper.
