: The research entitled “Assessment of trace metal levels in water, sediment and fish tissue in Lake Small Abaya, Ethiopia” is our own work that has been conducted under the supervision of the university research directorate and research committee. We followed all the ethical principles of scholarships in the preparation, data collection, data analysis, and completion of this research. All scholarly matter included in the project was given recognition through citations. We adequately cited and referenced all original sources. We also declare that we have adhered to all principles of academic honesty and integrity and have not misrepresented, fabricated, or falsified any idea, data, fact, or source in our submission. Furthermore, we declare that this research has not been submitted to any other organization or journal. This study involved the use of muscle fish from live vertebrates. The research protocol was reviewed and approved by the Werabe University Research and Ethics Committee, chaired by Dr. Kedir Ibrahim and Misgana Negera, in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The study adhered to the ARRIVE guidelines to ensure the ethical treatment and welfare of the animals. Additionally, the study followed international guidelines, specifically the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Policy Statement on Research Involving Species at Risk of Extinction and the Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. All legal requirements and ethical guidelines in Ethiopia for the care and use of animals were followed.
