: This study which involves primary survey in 320 households in coastal area, has been conducted in strict adherence to the guidelines set forth by the academic, research and ethics committee of the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFES) at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The survey protocol received approval from the academic, research and ethics committee of the IFES at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh (Memo no. IFES/CU/2022/19/dated 9 June 2022). Compliance with all academic, ethical, and procedural standards outlined in the programme guidelines of IFES have been ensured. Participants were aged 18 and above, and confidentiality and anonymity of their participations in this study were maintained. Verbal informed consent was obtained after elucidating the study's objectives to participants prior to each interview. Participants were informed about their rights to withdraw at any time without any consequences. This report adhered to the STROBE declaration about the reporting of cross-sectional studies, in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki for research involving human subjects.
