Moreover SKUAST-Kashmir has a mandate of collecting, characterizing and conserving the local germplasm. : SKUAST-Kashmir is the only Mountain Agriculture University in this region of India and the University have mandate of collecting, characterizing and conserving the crop biodiversity. The buckwheat germplasm collected from north western Himalayas is a part of SKUAST-K mandate.
