: Ethical approval was granted by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) research ethics committee (Permit No. CST00000653-2024-2024-00791). The COSTECH has its own national ethics committee which approves all types of research conducted in Tanzania including those not involving human participants such as surveys. Therefore, methodology and research questionnaire in this study was approved by the COSTECH ethics committee.

: Participation of respondents in this study was entirely voluntary as farmers were briefed on the purpose of the study and asked to agree to participate prior to data collection. In that light, informed consent was obtained from the respondents prior to data collection.
