Declarations
:
: We obtained research clearances from the Tanzania Commission of Science and Technology (COSTECH) before conducting this study. Following that, we obtained permit number 2020-430-NA-2020-34, which is required for any research in Tanzania. Furthermore, we followed the ethical standards outlined in the Helsinki Declaration of 1964 and its subsequent amendments. We obtained permission from the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) to conduct the research in local communities surrounding the Serengeti National Park (SNP) and Rungwa Game Reserve (RGR), as well as in two cities, Arusha and Dodoma, in Tanzania, because it involved wildlife and people living adjacent to protected areas.
