: All the three palm wood samples were collected from plants that are commonly grown in the region and are also extensively cultivated in the study area. None of the species belong to any IUCN red listed category. As these plants are cultivated by local people on their own land, the wood samples were collected with proper permission from the respective owners and also from the appropriate authority. Moreover, the wood samples from Borassus flabellifer L., Cocos nucifera L., and Areca catechu L. were collected following the local and national guidelines. The plants were identified by Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Dash, Scientist F, Botanical Survey of India and a senior plant taxonomist. Voucher specimens of these plants were deposited in the Calcutta University Herbarium (CUH). The voucher specimens were assigned as follows: Voucher Nos. CUH/PPL-Modern/001 to 003 dated 7th April, 2024, CUH/PPL-Modern/004 to 006 dated 7th April, 2024, and CUH/PPL-Modern/007 to 009 dated 7th April, 2024, corresponding to Borassus flabellifer L., Cocos nucifera L., and Areca catechu L. respectively.
