: Donor consent for medical education and scientific research at the Education Program in Anatomy at McMaster University is obtained through the Anatomy Act - Province of Ontario form which provides consent “in accordance with Sect. 5 of The Trillium Gift of Life Network Act, to the use of the said body after death for medical education or for scientific research at the Education Program in Anatomy at McMaster University” and the Acknowledge of Instructions form which gives “permission to McMaster University’s Education Program in Anatomy to retain any organ, portion or whole body from the donated body for educational or medical research purposes”. Based on the information provided, it was determined that Hamilton Integrated Research Ethics Board (HiREB) review and approval of this project is not required in accordance with the requirements of the Tri-Council Policy Statement [TCPS2 (2022)] and applicable regulations. Instead, we sought guidance and approval from the McMaster University Privacy Office (University Secretariat) to ensure ethical compliance and collective manuscript approval. Not applicable.
