: The research protocol was approved by the Board of Studies, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (Deemed University), Mumbai. The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai-61, approved all procedures involving fish in this study. All animal handling procedures were carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forests (Animal Welfare Division), Government of India. The test species (L. rohita) is not listed under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, and its use in laboratory research is not restricted.
