: Cleistopholis patens leaves were collected behind Chemical Engineering Gardens, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria on the 10 th May, 2017. The plant was authenticated by Mr. Ogunlowo, a taxonomist in the Department of Pharmacognosy, at Faculty of Pharmacy in the same institution. A voucher specimen with number FPI-2305 was deposited in the University Herbarium. The collection of the plants used in the study complies with local or national guidelines with no need for further affirmation. The plant is not listed among the endangered species in this part of the country.
