: Cobs of maize (Zea mays) and pine (Pinusroxburghii) needle litters were gathered from the Norman E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre in Pantnagar and the Kumaon region of the Himalayas, respectively. The collection of plant material, complied with relevant institutional and, national guidelines and legislation. The College of Agriculture, G.B.P.U.A. & T. Pantnagar's Department of Plant Pathology provided pure cultures of fungal pathogens as well as maize variety PSM3 for the field experiment.
