: The plants used in the current study were procured from Stockman Rozen Kenya Limited. Stockman Rozen Kenya Limited is a private company that has been registered and duly licensed by The Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) as certified seed potato producers. All seedlings were cultured from apical cuttings of pre-basic seeds. All varieties used in the study are duly registered by KEPHIS and are commercially available for use without any further legal requisites. Research implementation followed the guidelines as approved by the University ethics for field research and the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation without need for further affirmation. Experimental work was conducted on the farmers field with due knowledge and approval of the farmers and land owners. This article is our original work and has not been previously published or is being considered for publication elsewhere.
