: The species is widely cultivated and traditionally used by ethnic communities in the region for daily consumption. Plant material of Docynia indica was collected from the backyard of a local farmer of Phek District of Nagaland, India, with a GPS-GIS tag (Latitude 25.703049°; Longitude 94.349609°) with prior consent. The herbarium was prepared and identified by taxonomist (Voucher specimen number BUBH0000900). Docynia indica is not evaluated (NE) on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list, indicating that the species has not been assessed on a global scale. Locally, such as in Bhutan, it is categorised as least concern, highlighting its stable status in the region. Therefore, no specific permit was required for its collection. All procedures were carried out in compliance with institutional, national, and international guidelines for the ethical use of plant material.
