The species was taxonomically identified by Akhtar H Malik, Jr Scientist, KASH-Herbarium, Centre for Biodiversity and Taxonomy (CBT), Department of Botany, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. A voucher specimen of Paeonia emodi (Voucher No. KASH-9273) has been deposited in the Herbarium, Department of Botany, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India.
