: Although Morus rubra is not listed as threatened or endangered at the collection site, we followed the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Policy Statement guidelines for the collection of plant materials. Permission to collect plant leaf samples from Waubonsie State Park, Fremont County, Iowa, through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), was obtained by co-author Jeffrey D. Carstens.
