: Under the current regulatory framework in Brazil, field studies and the use of plant material from non-endemic and non-protected species do not require formal ethical approval or a specific collection permit. Coffea arabica L. is neither an endemic nor a protected species, and the plants used in this study were obtained from a commercial plant nursery.
