: All fieldwork and specimen collection were conducted in accordance with Colombian environmental regulations. The study was carried out in Afro-descendant collective territories with the knowledge and participation of local community members, who are co-authors of this study. Permission to collect plant material was granted by the Consejo Comunitario El Cedro and Consejo Comunitario Los Delfines, governing authorities of Afro-descendant collective territories in the study area, within the framework of the project ¨ Vainilla Aroma Chocó¨ . The Type voucher specimens are deposited in the Herbaria, Fundación Jardín Botánico Joaquín Antonio Uribe de Medellín (JAUM; accession number JAUM105901 (Holotype)) and Herbario Universidad del Valle, Luis Sigifredo Espinal Tascón (CUVC). The studied taxon, Vanilla pacifica sp.nov. was identified and described in the present work by Andres Navia-Samboni and Nicola S. Flanagan. Not applicable.
