: All the bamboo species of different age groups viz. Dendrocalamus asper , Bambusa tulda , Bambusa nutans , Melocanna baccifera , and Bambusa bambos were procured from the Bambusetum situated in the campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India. Permission for the procurement of the selected species has been granted by the Silviculturist, Silviculture and Forest Management Division of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India vide letter No. 0–1/2008/Range/Silva/Part File-11/318. All the species were cultivated within the campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India according to the operational guidelines of National Bamboo Mission (NBM), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
