: The MR images of the normal database had been transferred to jung diagnostics GmbH under the terms and conditions of the European general data protection regulation for remote image analysis. Subsequently, the data had been anonymized. The need for written informed consent for the retrospective use of the anonymized data in the present study was waived by the ethics review board of the general medical council of the state of Hamburg, Germany (reference number 2021–300047-WF).
: The MS patients had been enrolled in clinical studies at the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology of the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany, and at the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland. Both studies had been approved by the local ethics committee. All patients had given written informed consent. This included the retrospective use of the data for the present study.
