: All patients were selected based on having known pre-existing chronic cortical lesions (CLs) from scans of two prior studies. One of these studies developed the PSIR technique for improved CL detection and the second examined the ‘central vein sign’ in white matter lesions; neither of these earlier studies acquired arterial spin labelling data or quantified perfusion. Access to these earlier scans followed ethical guidelines to which consent was given.
