Researchers followed standard procedures and guidelines concerning data collection, storage and usage that are common in human subjects research. This included obtaining active parental informed consent, and storing anonymized data safely in the research data management system.
: Active informed consent was obtained from parents and if children did not want to answer questions or did not want to participate, they could tell the researcher and were allowed to stop.
