The research protocol was approved by the Ethics Committees of the Department of Developmental and Social Psychology, Sapienza University of Rome (at Wave 1; Protocol Number: 4 VII/16), and the Department of Brain and Behavioral Sciences, University of Pavia (at Wave 2; Protocol Number: 033/19).
: Parents gave consent for their children to participate and to be contacted approximately 18 months later for follow-up; verbal assent was also granted by the children. Each child was reminded that their responses would be confidential and that they could terminate their participation in all or part of the study at any time; such information was conveyed to the children in an age-appropriate manner, both prior to and during their participation.
