: The data for the present investigation resulted from two large research projects: one that aimed to explore the impacts of kidney failure in adults on hemodialysis and family caregivers using a dyadic mixed methods approach; and a second investigation that focused on examining the experiences of dialysis care professionals. Both projects received approval from the Institutional Ethics Committees (Ref. 03/2019; 83/CEFMUP/2022; UICISA:E P758_03_2021). All procedures performed followed the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its subsequent amendments.
