: All animal experiments were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (Ethics number: WIVA42202002) of Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The SARS-CoV-2 animal model experiments and protocols were also discussed explicitly and extensively with biosafety officers and facility managers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Non-human primate experiments were conducted within the animal biosafety level 4 (ABSL-4) facility and mice experiments were performed in animal biosafety level 3 (ABSL-3) laboratory in National Biosafety Laboratory (Wuhan), Chinese Academy of Sciences.
