Declarations
:
: Teijo I. Saari was supported by State funding for university-level health research to Turku University Hospital (#13821 for T.I.S.). This is a non-commercial, investigator-initiated project and has not received funding from the industry.
: Teijo I. Saari has no conflicts of interest to disclose. John Strang declares his employer (King’s College London) has received, connected to his work, research grant support, payment of honoraria, consultancy payments, traveling/accommodation from pharmaceutical and technology companies (including, past 3 years, MundiPharma, Camurus, Accord/Molteni, Pneumowave) and product medication supply from Camurus and from Pneumowave, concerning medicinal or technology products potentially applicable in the treatment of addictions and related problems. This includes exploration of novel naloxone formulations as well as possible wearable devices. NTNU—The Norwegian University of Science and Technology has signed a collaboration and licensing agreement with dne pharma to commercialize a nasal spray formulation. dne pharma has received marketing authorization for a naloxone nasal spray (Ventizolve/Respinal) based on this collaboration. The formulation was invented by Dale, and the agreements ensure potential royalties for him through NTNU, and NTNU’s subsidiary Technology Transfer (TTO). The agreements do not restrict NTNU’s opportunity to publish results from its own research on the product. Dale was Principal Investigator (no personal honorarium) for dne pharma on a study of naloxone spray in volunteers and has been reimbursed for project-related journeys between Oslo and Trondheim. Dale has received honoraria and travel support from dne pharma for presentations on marketing events.
