Change Details: In the version of this article initially published online, the last sentence of the abstract was incorrect; it should read "mScarlet outperforms existing red fluorescent proteins as a fusion tag, and it is especially useful as a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) acceptor in ratiometric imaging." In addition, the third author affiliation was incorrect; it should read "Institut de Biologie Structurale, Université Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, CEA, Grenoble, F-38044, France." Table 1 contained three errors: the symbol for fluorescence lifetime (column 6) was incorrect; the unit for column 7 was τ, and it should be pKaf. Finally, Equation 6 in the Online Methods was written incorrectly, with the denominator included within the square root. These errors have been corrected for the print, PDF, and HTML versions of this article.
