: The regional medical research ethics committee of the Wellbeing services county of North Ostrobothnia approved the NFBC1966 study under the statement number 94/2011 (12.12.2011), and NFBC1986 study under the statement number 108/2017 (15.1.2018). Both are in accordance with the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki.
: Mothers of the NFBC1966 and NFBC1986 cohort participants gave their informed consent when they first joined the study during pregnancy. The participants of NFBC1966 have given their written informed consent in the 31- and 46-year data collections. Written informed consent was also obtained from the participants of NFBC1986 in data collections carried out when they were aged 15 to 16 and 33 to 35 years.
