Ethical approval
: The African-PREDICT study was approved by the NWU-HREC (NWU-00001-12-A1) with endorsement from the National and Provincial Department of Health in South Africa. In addition, the African-PREDICT study is monitored continuously, and approval reissued every six months. All procedures complied with the Declaration of Helsinki (2008) and conformed to the SAMRC Research Council guidelines of good clinical practice described in detail within the original informed consent signed by all participants.
