: Ethical approval was granted from the University of Health Sciences Süreyyapaşa Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Clinical Research Ethics Committee before starting the study (protocol number 063). After obtaining the ethics committee’s approval, permissions were obtained from the T.R. Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate (no: 15916306-604.02.99) and the management of Istanbul Tuzla State Hospital (no: 47150177-604.01.01). In addition, written informed consent was received from the families of the newborns in the control and intervention groups.
