: Prior to participation in either study, all patients signed an informed consent document approved by the Institutional Review Board. For the solid tumour study, ethical approval was given by the Institutional Review Boards at the three study sites: National Cancer Center Hospital (Tokyo, Japan), the Christie Hospital NHS Trust (Manchester, UK) and the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden NHS Foundation (Surrey, UK). For the AML study, ethical approval was given by the Institutional Review Boards at the four study sites: MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, USA), Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, USA), Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto, Canada), and Washington University School of Medicine (St Louis, USA).
