: The ACE Programme (MDC) was a joint early diagnosis of cancer initiative between NHS England, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. Funding for the Programme Management of the ACE Programme was provided by Cancer Research UK. S.W.D., D.V., W.H. and G.R. participated in this work as part of the responsive programme of the Policy Research Unit in Cancer Awareness, Screening and Early Diagnosis, which is funded by the Department of Health’s Policy Research Programme. The five MDC projects received programme funding to support the development and trial of pilot pathways in accordance with their status as ACE Programme sites.
