: A.S. and E.M. are co-founders of Nanotools Bioscience, a company focused on exploring the optoelectronic properties of graphene for biomedical applications and developing the tools and technologies for enabling these applications. E.M. is the inventor and applicant on patents (US10137150B2, US10688127B2, CN106458601B, JP6635383B2, EP3157866B1) related to the graphene-based optical stimulation technology, and its applications, including its use for driving activity-dependent maturation of stem cell-derived cells. A.R.M is a co-founder and has an equity interest in TISMOO, a company dedicated to genetic analysis and brain organoid modeling focusing on therapeutic applications customized for autism spectrum disorder and other neurological disorders with genetic origins. The terms of this arrangement have been reviewed and approved by the University of California San Diego in accordance with its conflict-of-interest policies.
