: The author FS holds a patent related to the imaging technique used in this study (Patent US 8208997 B2 titled “Non-invasive Method To Monitor Microcirculation”). The authors JH and FS have previously had a royalty agreement, which ended 3 years ago, with the company (WheelsBridge AB) making the TiVi equipment. However, the research presented here was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial contributions that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest.
