: Ethics approval was obtained from the Makerere School of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee in Kampala, Uganda (MAKSHSREC-2023-558) and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) registration number HS3183ES. Administrative Permission/Clearance was also provided by Masaka Regional Referral Hospital. All mothers provided informed consent for themselves and their infants to participate in the study.
