: The plant was identified by G K Ramesh Rao, Lecturer in Botany, Mother Teresa’s PU College, Kundapur Taluk, Udupi, Karnataka, India. There are couple of other published articles on morphological & mechanical characteristics of the natural fiber and several studies on medicinal properties of the same. Our work is on physical, morphological & thermal characteristics applicable to composite materials. The fiber or the plant is not stored in any public herbarium. The plant is widely available locally and not in the danger of extinction.
