: The plant material used in this study consisted of seeds of Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Samsun, which has been maintained for over 40 years in the local collection held by the Department of Potato Protection and Seed Sciences (Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute – National Research Institute, Division in Bonin). The identity of the plant material is well-established and routinely confirmed based on morphological characteristics and growth behavior. As the seeds originate from a long-standing internal source and are not wild-collected, no formal voucher specimen has been deposited in a public herbarium. However, representative samples are available upon request from the authors for verification purposes. No collection from natural populations was performed, and therefore no specific permits or licenses were required.
: P.P., P.D., and K.T. have submitted the provisional patent application for MALDI-TOF-MS-based PVY strain detection and differentiation to the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. The remaining authors declare no competing interests.
