: The study received ethical clearance from the School of Medicine Research and Ethical Committee (SOMREC), Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Kampala, granted in March 2015. Administrative clearance to conduct the study was also obtained from Mildmay Uganda. Written informed consent was sought from each volunteer before being enrolled into the study. Laboratory results were availed to the attending doctors for appropriate management of the patients. Information was coded and stored in password protected data bases and /or lockable drawers accessible by only authorized personnel.
