: The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Institute of Health of Jimma University (protocol number IHRPGD/3000/21; April 16, 2021) and the Amhara Public Health Institute Dessie Branch (protocol number PHID/597/; May 21, 2021), Ethiopia. Written informed consent was obtained from all consenting heads of household for indoor and domestic sand fly collection. All methods were performed in accordance with relevant national and international guidelines and regulations governing research ethics, vector collection, and handling of biological samples. All methods were reported in accordance with the animal research: reporting of in vivo experiments (ARRIVE) guidelines 2.0 to ensure transparency and reproducibility of the research involving sand fly vectors.
