: Approval was granted for secondary analysis of existing data after the removal of all identifying information of the respondents by The DHS Program and the author leveraged on the ethical approval obtained by the Ethics Committee of the ICF Macro at Calverton in the USA in conjunction with the National Ethics Committee of the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria (ethics approval number: NHREC/01/01/2007). According to the Declaration of Helsinki and the Nuremberg code, the principles of respect for participants, informed consent, and favourable risk-benefit ratio and fair subject selection were followed. Written informed consent was obtained from all respondents, and mothers less than 18 years of age. Additionally, assent was obtained from those 15 to 18 years age.
