: The authors of this study confirm that the study was conducted to investigate a new biomarker for its prognostic value regarding the outcome of ICU patients with COVID-19-sepsis and bacterial sepsis.The study was approved by the Ethics Committee (Landesärztekammer Rheinland-Pfalz; 2020–15535) and informed consent was obtained from participants. All methods involving human participants were performed in accordance with the ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki.
